Report on access to vocational education and mid-level skills gap

6 December 2017

Today, the Grand Challenge of Justice and Equality launched a report on access to vocational and technical education for the over 25s in England.

The report "Routes to Opportunity - addressing the non-university skills gap" authored by Institute of Education Doctoral candidate Ms Aly Colman, reveals that while employers face a mid-level skills gap, established workers face barriers to upskilling and retraining to undertake medium skilled occupations.

The report is being launched in UCL's Institute of Education (IOE) this morning, Wednesday 6 December. Speakers at the event include Professor Becky Francis, IOE Director, Sir Vince Cable MP, leader of the Liberal Democrats and report author Aly Colman.
