UCL researchers can get involved in the Grand Challenge of Human Wellbeing in several ways.
We run a regular Small Grants programme offering funding for relevant cross-disciplinary projects of up to £4,000. Projects may include:
- pilot research
- academic and policy-focused workshops and conferences
- public engagement activities which may involve lectures, films, plays, community outreach or ‘citizen science’.
How to apply
Any UCL researcher of postdoctoral standing or above can apply for a Small Grant jointly with a researcher based in a different UCL faculty. External collaborators (academic or non-academic) can also be included in applications.
The Grand Challenge of Human Wellbeing has funded major events and projects. If you have an idea for a relevant research project that is cross-disciplinary in nature, please contact us and we would be happy to discuss it.
Roundtables and workshops
UCL Grand Challenges have helped to facilitate ‘roundtables’: informal, community-building gatherings of experts with a common interest in a subject, who might not otherwise find the opportunity to interact. If you have a subject that you think would excite academics from across disciplines at UCL and beyond, get in touch with us to find out if we can help put an event together.
